Mauve-lous Melanie

This is my friend Melanie!  She is the owner of Melanie Salon in Grayson, Georgia. She can do some amazing things with hair. She creates beautiful bridal, prom and everyday styles. She recently was in need of a makeup artist to do her own makeup for some professional head shots she was having taken.  Who did she call?  ME!  I was so honored that Melanie let me get her "All Dolled Up"!  She looks beautiful, if I do say so myself ;)

My Foundation Routine

After my face is washed and clean, I start with a oil control moisturizer like Cetaphil.   It is what my dermatologist recommended for my oily skin, plus it has a sunscreen in it which is good.

Next I apply my foundation with a wedged makeup sponge.  I am currently using Revlon ColorStay liquid foundation.  I kind of LOVE it.  Since I have super sensitive skin, I like that I can cut down on bacteria by using a new sponge everyday (I buy a BIG bag at WalMart for cheap!).

Here are a few reasons I love Revlon ColorStay foundation...

  1. It comes in a lot of different colors.  Why is this good?  Throughout the year your skin color changes, so its nice to have an inexpensive foundation that you can buy as your color changes.  Also, if you are a makeup artist, you have many different colors or shades to choose from for your clients.
  2.  It lasts all day.  Whether you are sweating, sitting, shopping this foundation will stay on all day and look flawless.  This is also good to use on brides, it looks fabulous in pictures and still looks great while they get their dance on at the reception.
  3. It comes in two different formulas.  Some people have dry skin, some have oily.  I have very oily skin, but when I wear formula for oily skin topped with a mattifying powder it stays oil free all day.  This is also good for clients.  If your client has oily skin chances are you won't be there to powder their face throughout the entire day, but with this foundation I have not had to reapply powder.
Next I apply a powder to set my foundation.  Right now I am using Rimmel's Stay Matte Pressed Powder.  I like it!  I does keep me matte all day, and it is natural.

That's it!  This is just for an everyday look, so I don't use any primers.  On my clients I always use a primer for an even flawless finish.

**I was not paid to promote any of these brands.  These are all my own opinions**
